This page is dedicated to Slaters Plastikard Kits. These kits usually come with Slaters own wheels. They are plastic and have easy to follow instructions. Very similar to Airfix Models which are popular with the younger generation.
Slater’s and POWsides are two separate businesses but got together on a 7mm private owner wagon (po) project. POWsides specialise as the name suggests in the sides of wagons either as painted kits or by supplying the transfers. Slater’s own range of po wagons was quite limited whereas POWsides have hundreds. One advantage is Slater’s wagon kits are usually supplied with their own wheels and sprung buffers. The main components of the kit are plastic which is glued together using plastic weld or similar products. These wagons appeal to the younger modellers as they are relatively easy to build and usually very distinctive and colourful.
